Fastest bulletproof car in the world

Ogden, Utah (January 5, 2017). International Armoring Corporation’s lightweight armoring division, Armormax®, has just armored a 2018 Tesla Model S P100D. The Tesla Model S P100D base vehicle is currently the fastest production sedan in the world – traveling from 0 – 60 mph in 2.4 seconds. Armormax® is the lightest and strongest synthetic fiber laminate armoring in the world – weighing 80% less than traditional steel armor.

Fastest Bulletproof Car

The Armormax® armored Tesla provides protection from high-powered rifles, as well as high-powered handguns. With only 550 lbs of added armor weight (standard armoring companies add 3,000 lbs.!), the decrease in performance is negligible. This Armormax® armored Tesla maintains its original appearance and functions.

This vehicle is the first armored Tesla Model S P100D in the world and was armored 100% using Armormax® proprietary lightweight molded armor; NO ballistic steel was used. The vehicle was ordered by a Middle Eastern businessman, and it was designed and armored in Ogden, Utah.

International Armoring Corporation invites the media and other interested parties to view this recently completed armor Tesla at its manufacturing facility in Ogden, Utah.

While this Armormax® Tesla may be “faster than a speeding bullet”, it doesn’t need to be!

About International Armoring Corporation (IAC): Founded in Utah in 1993 on the premise of designing the lightest most technologically advanced armored passenger vehicles. Nearly 25 years later, IAC is a world leader in the design and production of the finest armored passenger vehicles having armored over 9,000 vehicles.

This includes vehicles for 45 different world heads of state, Popemobiles, tractors, Snowcats, celebrities, sports figures, Corporate CEO’s and militaries. IAC’s proprietary armoring material, Armormax®, has been certified as the lightest in the world. This is a huge advantage as it helps maintain vehicles’ original performance reduces service visits and increases the life of the armored vehicle.

Common Questions

Bulletproof Tesla cars are protected using a combination of advanced materials that work together to stop or slow ballistic threats while maintaining the vehicle’s structure and performance. The armoring typically includes high-strength ballistic steel or lightweight composite armor panels discreetly installed within the doors, pillars, roof, and firewall, paired with multi-layer ballistic glass made from alternating layers of hardened glass and polycarbonate that absorb and disperse a bullet’s energy. Depending on the protection level, Armormax and hardened ballistic steel may also be used while adding tensile strength, and critical components like the battery pack can receive additional shielding. When done by a professional armoring company, these materials are engineered to meet recognized ballistic standards and integrate without compromising safety systems of the vehicles.

Yes — a Tesla that’s been armored can still use its self-driving and FSD (Full Self-Driving) features, because those systems are software that run on the car’s original sensors, computers, and cameras, and armoring itself doesn’t inherently disable them so long as the sensors stay unobstructed and nothing is altered in a way that blocks their view. What matters more for whether FSD will continue to work is the Tesla’s hardware version and software support: newer Teslas with the latest self-driving computer (HW4/AI4) and cameras are still receiving updates and can run FSD (now branded as “FSD Supervised”), while older vehicles with earlier hardware may be limited in how far FSD features can evolve without a hardware upgrade. Current FSD remains a supervised driver-assist system (not fully autonomous) regardless of armoring, and keeps functioning as long as the sensors and cameras remain clear and the software is kept up to date.

Armormax - but you can have a Tesla bulletproofed on many of its different makes and models, because professional armoring companies know how to reinforce electric vehicles without damaging their essential systems. Whether it’s a Model S, Model X, Model 3, or Model Y, armor installers replace or upgrade exterior panels with ballistic-rated steel or composite materials and fit multi-layer bullet-resistant glass in place of the factory units, all while working around battery packs, sensors, and wiring so that safety features and drivability stay intact. The specifics of how a Tesla is armored and what level of ballistic protection it achieves will vary by model and by the protection level chosen, but the basic idea is the same: the structure and windows are upgraded so the vehicle can resist certain calibers of gunfire while still functioning like a normal Tesla.
